There may be another interesting way to connect “secular humanism” and Buddhism without competing them. I am going to assume that by secular humanism you also mean scientific humanism, philosophical materialism. Where this view connects is in its non dual view of the mind and matter. Both buddhism and western materialism share a non dual view. Ultimately—that’s what truly connects these two distinct views and anything else is simply in the mind of the beholder 😃
