I’m a consensus platform designer (things like wikis) and in 2013 began researching wiki wars on Wikipedia, the two of which I researched were the biographical articles of Deepak Chopra and Rupert Sheldrake. I assumed my research into wiki wars in the category of “woo versus skeptics” would be a relatively harmless subject matter, and boy was I wrong.

My research showed a fairly prominent university professor working along side what we call today as “troll farms” which included many skeptic Wikipedia editors. I discovered over 300 fake editing accounts used by these skeptic networks and this professor was intentionally targeting Rupert sheldrake. My encounter with these groups was one of the most bizarre and disturbing in my entire life. The type of skeptics you describe are the worst of ideologues, and the reason they get away with this aggressive psychology is because their personality’s get to hide behind science.

They don’t represent science nor skepticism, they simply are on the spectrum and have their own personality issues they project onto society.
