I suppose in the simulation argument, we are still faced with the same three possible ways with which to view the mind (and hence reality).
The simulation argument could be an argument for non-duality from the viewpoint of either western physicalism or idealism, both of which are "non-dual", or do not require "two substances" for it to work, just one. "There is only 1 absolute, not two" so this also gets called many other things, like monism or idealism
This means the rendering could happen either in the virtual environment (time and space, western physicalism) or it could happen in the virtual headset (western idealism).
Either way the simulation argument is a thought experiment on non-duality.
Either reality requires BOTH an environment and a HEAD(set), and it is impossible to access one without the other..
Hence, the "duality" problem, maybe they are separate after all?
1. Idealism
2.Physicalism
3. Dualism.
I think the problem between 1 and 2 is the most interesting.
Clearly, 1 of them must be false or a delusion, that cannot both be true for if they are, then "dualism" it is.
So the "two views" of mind are really non-duality and duality.
Not sure if we have gotten any further :)
